Before the bell: Futures higher ahead of retail numbers, subprime planCostco Wholesale Corp. (NASDAQ: COST) said November same-store sales rose 9% from a year earlier, due in part to strong international growth. It beat expectations of a 6.6% growth.
Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT) November same-store sales rose 1.9%, on strong performances in its grocery and pharmacy segments and solid "Black Friday" sales. Expectations called for a 1.2% growth.
The chief executive of The Coca Cola Co. (NYSE: KO), Neville Isdell, will surprisingly step down after four years as CEO and be succeeded by his second-in-command, chief operating officer, Muhtar Kent. KO shares are unchanged at the moment.
Apple 2.0 gives its opinion on the recent launches of Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPhone in Europe, especially France. AAPL shares are up another 1.35% in premarket trading after a strong 3.16% showing yesterday.
Reuters reports that "General Electric (NYSE: GE) wants to pursue its industrial partnership with Safran even if it merges with or takes over another company, the head of GE France said on Thursday."
IBM (NYSE: IBM) will acquire Arsenal Digital Solutions, a privately held on-demand data protection solutions company based in Cary, North Carolina. Financial terms were not disclosed.
U.S. pharmaceutical company Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) plans to sell a 7-year euro benchmark bond with Barclays and JP Morgan being lead managers for the deal.
